Berta Valencia Avila, age 81, a resident of Wheaton, IL, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. She was born September 1, 1944 in Mexico to Antonio Valencia & Carmen Avila.

Berta was a remarkable woman whose life was defined by strength, resilience, faith, and unconditional love. From a young age, she faced life's challenges with courage and determination. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who always put her family first, raising her children on her own and providing them with the love, guidance, support, and protection they needed to thrive. Her family always knew they could count on her, no matter the circumstance. 

Known for her positive spirit and strong faith, Berta approached life with hope and confidence. She remained fearless in the face of adversity and inspired those around her through her strength, independence, and perseverance. She was a natural leader who led by example, teaching others the value of hard work, compassion, and integrity. 

Berta had a generous heart and gave freely without ever expecting anything in return. Whether through her kindness, wisdom, or selfless acts, she touched countless lives and made everyone feel loved and valued. 

One of her greatest joys was bringing her family together through food. She loved cooking for those she cared about, filling her home with warmth, laughter, and cherished memories. Her meals were more than food—they were expressions of the love she so generously shared. 

Berta's legacy is one of unwavering strength, boundless generosity, enduring faith, and unconditional love. She will be remembered as a fearless and resilient woman whose devotion to her family and kindness toward others left an unforgettable mark on all who knew her.

She survived by her children Josefina Jimenez, Pedro Hernandez, Dolores Jimenez, Amparo Jimenez and Salvador Jimenez; her grandchildren Luis Rico, Eduardo Macias, Jesus Macias, Journey Hernandez, Alberto Hernandez, Allan Hernandez, Angel Hernandez, Salvador Jimenez, Daniel Jimenez, Diego Jimenez, Christian Perez, Andrea Perez, Monica Perez and Braulio Perez; her great-grandchildren Isabella Rico and Anthony Rico.

A visitation will be held Friday, June 26, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 Noon at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois.
