Bernice E. Gronner, nee Long, age 94, a resident of the Wyndemere Retirement Community in Wheaton, died Thursday, February 14 at the Central Du Page Hospital. She was born on February 2, 1914 in Bokoshe, OK to Ode E. and Hattie (Jacobs) Long.
She attended college in Arkansas and moved to San Diego, CA where she met her husband, Dr. Curt J. Gronner, then a Navy dentist during W.W.II. She was employed as the bookkeeper for a large lumber company. They were married in Tacoma, WA on February 6, 1943. After the war they resided in Morrison, IL where he had his practice. She assisted him from time to time and was responsible for the bookkeeping. They lived there until September, 2001 when they moved to Wheaton.
Mrs. Gronner was active in the Federated Women's Club, Hospital Auxiliary, Legion Auxiliary, Dental Auxiliary, Presbyterian Church, PTA, Republican Women's Club and Scouting. She enjoyed golfing, bridge and bowling.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Curt Gronner, a son, Dr. Bruce Gronner, a granddaughter, Kristin, two sisters and two brothers and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 17, at 2:00 P.M. in the Anderson Auditorium at the Wyndemere Retirement Community, 200 Wyndemere Circle, in Wheaton. Interment is private.
