Barbara Ann Yangas, aged 83, a cherished resident of Carol Stream, IL, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 8, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at home. She was born on August 4, 1940, in Oak Park, IL, to Walter and Dorothy Jaeger.
In 1959, Barbara married Leonard Yangas. She worked at Colson's Department Store in St. Charles and later as a compassionate caregiver with Comfort Keepers. Barbara had a passion for travel, finding joy in exploring new places. Her hospitable nature led her to delight in hosting gatherings and entertaining guests in her home. She reveled in the spirit of holidays, adorning spaces with her artistic touch, whether through decorating or indulging her creative side in painting and drawing. Her green thumb found expression in tending to the vibrant flowers in her garden.
She and Leonard were active with the Lombard Jaycee's where she was president of the Jaycettes. She was also a member of Alanon.
After Leonard's retirement, they ventured to Summerfield, Florida, where they enjoyed a decade before returning to their roots in Carol Stream.
Barbara is survived by her devoted daughters, Deborah (Ronald) Riha and Karen (Glenn) Gillis, and her cherished grandchildren: Samantha (Antonio) Ramirez, Mackenzie J. Riha, and Carter D. Gillis. Her great-grandchildren, Damian (Autumn), Nathan, Daisy, and Violet Vasquez, along with great-great-granddaughter Paizlee A. Vasquez, brought her immense joy. She is also survived by her brother William W. (Annette) Jaeger.
Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leonard, her son, David L. Yangas, and her parents.
Her legacy of love, creativity, and warm hospitality will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew and cherished her.
