Obituary

Barbara J. Walker, age 63, a longtime resident of Wheaton, IL, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 22, at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. She was born July 28, 1951 in Racine, Wisconsin to Robert and Lorraine Black.

Barb graduated from J. I. Case High School in Racine. She earned a nursing diploma from West Suburban School of Nursing and a Bachelors Degree and a Masters Degree from Wheaton College. She worked as a Psychiatric Nurse in various hospital settings. She had a passion for helping those in mental and emotional pain.

At Wheaton College she met John Walker and they were married February 12, 1977. She was the love of John's life and his constant loyal supporter and best friend. The center of her life was Jesus, her Christian Faith and her family. She was a devoted mother to her three children and a proud and loving grandmother. She put others first and was always there for her family and friends. She enjoyed being with friends and was a gifted listener. Her love was often expressed in practical ways of helping people. Barb's faith was lived out through service at Wheaton Bible Church, Wheaton Christian Grammar School and her passion for missions.

She is survived by her husband, John Walker, three children, Eric Walker of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Amy (Ryan) Patton of Wheaton and Amanda Walker of Wheaton, one grandson, Wesley Patton, her mother, Lorraine Black (Walter) Doperalski of Racine, two brothers, Tim (Lois) Black of Bristol, WI and Rob (Sondra) Black of Stone Lake, WI and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert O. Black.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 26, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St, Wheaton, IL 60187. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 27, at 11:00 am at Wheaton Bible Church, 27W500 North Ave, West Chicago, IL 60185. Interment will be held at Wheaton Cemetery.
