Barbara J. Lansky, a cherished resident of Deerfield, IL, passed away peacefully on January 21, at the age of 88. Born on June 29, 1936, Barbara grew up in Chicago, where she attended Austin College and Career Academy. A proud member of the Glee Club and the Girls' Athletic Association (GAA), she graduated in 1954. Early in her career, Barbara worked at Andy's Candies, delighting in making ice cream.

In 1955, Barbara married the love of her life, Ferdinand "Fritz" Lansky. Barbara and Fritz moved from Chicago to Villa Park in 1968. They resided there until 1975, then moved to Deerfield where she joined Fritz at Walgreens Co. Barbara pursued a fulfilling career as a legal secretary for Walgreen's in Deerfield, forging lasting friendships with her coworkers.

Faith played a central role in Barbara's life. She and her husband were deeply involved in their church communities, starting with Harvard Avenue Bible Church and North Suburban Evangelical Free Church in 1977. They dedicated their time to working with youth groups and teaching Sunday School. In her later years, Barbara worshiped at Green Oaks Covenant Church in Libertyville and Village Church in Lincolnshire.

Barbara's interests were as varied as they were enriching. She was an active member of her book club and the Deerfield Townley Club, and she cherished her Bible studies and gatherings with friends from Walgreens. She loved traveling, making memorable trips to Israel and Europe. Staying active was important to Barbara, and she enjoyed attending health club water classes and taking long walks.

Barbara is survived by her beloved son, Robert (Michelle) Lansky of Joliet, and Maxwell and Ben Greve (the children of Roger and Leslie Greve) who refered to her as grandma. She was preceded in by her husband, Ferdinand, and her parents.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Hultgren Funeral Home in Carol Stream, 565 Randy Rd., Carol Stream, IL 60188.  A funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon, followed by a brief graveside service at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst.
