Barbara E. Holmgren, age 81, of Batavia, Illinois, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 21, 2020 while at home.

She was born July 23, 1938 in West Alexandria, Ohio, the daughter of Raymond and Evelyn (Priser) Denius. She was united in marriage to Carl L. Holmgren in Chicago in 1966.

Barbara confessed her faith in Christ at an early age. We have comfort in knowing that she is resting in His loving care. Her ever-present peace and joy is a result of the mercy of our God. She was fully persuaded that the One True, Triune God of the Bible, is Who He says He is and that He will do what He says He will do. His promises are Truth. She is now experiencing the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.

She worked for WMBI in Chicago for 7 years, as a secretary for two different churches for 12 years, and at the Holmstad Retirement Campus for 5 years.

She is survived by Carl, son Scott Holmgren, daughter Heather (Holmgren) Lopez, grandchildren Jonathan Holmgren, Jared Holmgren, Jack Holmgren, Linnea Holmgren, Emma Lopez, Isabel Lopez, and great-granddaughter Emily Holmgren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Evelyn (Priser) Denius, sister Helen Jean (Denius) Miller, brother Richard L. Denius, and sister Nancy (Denius) Ensbrenner.
