Barbara M. Heim, age 80, a longtime resident of Carol Stream, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 31, at Brighton Gardens in St. Charles, where she has lived for the last 6 years. She was born December 16, 1937 in Aurora to Andrew and Minnie (nee Schmale) Heim.
Barb lived on the Schmale family farm in Carol Stream her whole life. She was a "farm girl" at heart and loved being outside and in her garden. She attended Queen Bee School in Bloomingdale and graduated from Wheaton High School.
She was a Kindergarten Teacher for 8 years at St. John Lutheran Church and School in Wheaton and then worked for 40 years as the Church Secretary. Her life revolved around the church and she could be found there night and day.
She is survived by her niece, Carol Mazur of Gilberts, two nephews, Don Haberkamp of Bartlett and Steven Emmel of KY and great-nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Main and Franklin St., Wheaton, where a funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park in Elgin, Illinois.
