Barbara Anna Marie Bowman, 83, of Batavia, Illinois passed away on Saterday, July 25, 2026. She was born March 23, 1943 in Oak Park, the daughter of Henry and Mildred (Vlach) Dubs. She married John Bowman on April 27, 1962 and divorced in 1979. She married Robert Gerritsen on April 14, 1984.

Barbara graduated from Elmhurst College with a BS in Mathematics, Music and a secondary teaching certificate. She received a master’s degree in Engineering Management from Northwestern University in Chicago in 1981. She taught High School and College. Her career was with AT&T , retiring from Lucent Technologies, Bell Labs Innovations as Software Development Environment, Platform and Solutions Director. She was an active member of many Lutheran Churches serving as Lutheran District Board member, choir member and director, School Board member, VBS, Sunday School, Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader. She loved music, exercise and spending time with Bob in all outdoor activities, especially kayaking in Alaska.

She is survived by her husband Bob; two children Henry Bowman of Downers Grove, Annamarie Bowman of Oswego and one grandson Ryan; her brother Robert Dubs of Johnsburg and two sisters Dahna Betts of Homer Glen, Henriette Schmuhl of Aurora.

We will all miss her and her love but are assured she is in her final home in the arms of her Lord and Savior who she worshiped above all, through all of her life. A memorial service is being planned for August.
