Barbara A. Bowden, age 77, a resident of Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, February 9 at the Johnson Medical Center at Windsor Park. She was born August 14, 1929 in Harvey, Illinois.

Barbara was a graduate of Thornton Township High School and Olivet Nazarene University. She was an auxiliary member of The Gideons International since the late 1940's. Barbara was a dedicated employee of Marsh & McLennan in Chicago for over 47 years. As an active member of the Monee Free Methodist Church since 1944, she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, served as Director of Christian Education and served on the official Board of Administration. Barbara was a devout Christian and took pleasure in helping others. Her wonderful personality, sense of humor and interest in others, made her a joy to her friends and family. She enjoyed traveling and visited over 30 countries and many States in her lifetime.

Barbara is survived by her aunt Maxine (George) Longendorf of Escondido, CA, several cousins and many wonderful friends worldwide.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Maysell G. Bowden.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 15, from 2:30 -8 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. A memorial service will be held on Friday at 10:30 A.M. in the chapel at Windsor Park Manor, 124 Windsor Park Dr., in Carol Stream. Interment will be private at Cedar Park Cemetery in Calumet Park, IL.
