August V. Thomas, age 88, a resident of Wheaton, IL, died Friday, February 13, at home. He was born March 26, 1920 in Paris, France.
Mr. Thomas owned an operated Augie's Collission Shop for years. He was a member of the Italian American Sports Club in Rochester, NY, founded Rochester Youth Soccer and ran the Augie Thomas Kicking Camp. He was considered one of the best amateur soccer players during his playing career.
He is survived by his wife, Anne O. Thomas; his sons, Robert (Maggie) Thomas, and Rick Thomas; three grandchildren, Brendan, Jonathan and Jessica Thomas; his brother, Louis; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Josephine Oliva Tomasso; his brothers, Fred and August; and his sisters, Audrey, Joan, Marie and Denise.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 15, from 2-6 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, where prayers will be held on Monday, February 16 at 10:30 A.M. A funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 A.M. at St. Michael Catholic Church, 310 S. Wheaton Ave., in Wheaton. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Wheaton.
