August Obereiner, Jr., age 87, a resident of Bloomingdale, IL, died Sunday, December 20, 2015, at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Grzybina/Griebenen, Poland on April 9, 1928 to August Obereiner and Maria Obereiner, nee Balbach.

August immigrated to the United States in 1950 and served in the U.S. Army from March 1951 to November 1955. On September 25, 1954 he married Greta E. Papendik in Chicago, IL. August was a tool and die maker before retiring in 1995.

He is survived by his wife, Greta; and his son, Willy (Kelly) Obereiner; his three daughters, Marianne (Mark) Smith, Greta Obereiner, and Doreen Obereiner; his daughter-in-law, Loretta Obereiner; grandsons, Jason, Joshua, Adam, Ryan, Aric and Tyler; and granddaughter, Erika; great grandsons, Jaxson and Mason; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Bernard Obereiner; three brothers; and six sisters.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until the start of a memorial service to be held at 3:00 p.m. at Medinah Baptist Church , 900 Foster Avenue, in Medinah, IL. Interment will be private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
