Obituary

Arthur Alan Wagner, age 70, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 15, 2013 after a lengthy, courageous battle with heart disease. He was born on June 9, 1942 to Jacob and Lois Wagner.

Art grew up in Chicago. He graduated from Lane Tech High School in 1960 and attended the University of IL. He met Donna Olson at Northwest Baptist Church in Chicago. They were married there on September 14, 1963 and together raised their family in Niles. He was devoted to his family and always enjoyed going to their activities and games. Art worked with Sheet Metal Workers Union #73 for almost 30 years.

His faith was central to his life and he was anxious to serve God. He was an active member of Northwest Assembly of God, where he participated on missions trips, worked in the office and served in many capacities.

Art could fix or build anything; he even built an addition to their home. He loved to golf, followed the Bears and Cubs, liked to camp and travel, and enjoyed listening to WMBI. He was a very social person and enjoyed his Monday night card games with friends. Every winter, Art especially looked forward to the two months he and Donna would spend in Naples, FL golfing and having fun times with Don and Karen. To this day, many knew Art for his mongoose trick, which always gave him and others a good laugh when he brought it out.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Donna, three children, Brian (Linda) Wagner of Elmhurst, Laura (Jason) Dovalovsky of Naperville, and Daren Wagner of Niles, his grandchildren, Katrina, Brianna, Sarah, Jakob, Daniel and Matthew, one brother Robert Wagner of Wheaton, his sister, Jill (Doc) Meyer of CO and nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 22 at 1 p.m at Northwest Assembly of God, 900 N. Wolf Rd., Mt. Prospect, where friends may visit with the family from 11 am until the service. Interment will follow at Acacia Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (jdrf.org).
