Arthur L. Scott, age 92, a resident of Plymouth Place in LaGrange Park, died Sunday, March 22, 2015. He was born at home on June 23, 1922 in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey to Louis and Marie Scott.
Arthur graduated from St. Francis Grammar School and Ridgefield Park High School. He served honorably as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army in the Pacific Theatre during WWII from 1942 until 1945. He married his high school sweetheart, Anita Sullivan, on June 2, 1946. He attended Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ and received a Master's Degree from Dartmouth College in NH.
Arthur served as the President of the Ridgefield Park Board of Education, leading the campaign to build a new high school. He worked for U.S. Plywood and Champion International as a national credit manager and director for 40 years. He retired in 1987 and moved from Stamford, CT to Scottsdale, AZ.
He adored all of his grandchildren and was thrilled to become a great-grandfather. He loved dogs and cats, especially his dogs, Brownie, Bridget, Major, Rocky and Rush.
He is survived by his children, Ann (Bob) Blouin of LaGrange, Barry (Jeannie) Scott of West Bend, WI and Bill (Karen) Scott of Wheaton, six grandchildren, Kelly, Laura (Ryan), Nicole (John), Michael (Bekah), Alex and Lisa, and two great-grandchildren, Harrison and Harper.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita in 1997 and his sister, Muriel Cody.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 24, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187. A mass will be held on Wednesday, March 25, at 10:00 a.m. at St. James the Apostle Church, 480 S. Park Blvd., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois.
