Arthur Ringblom, age 85, a resident of West Chicago, and Dixon, died Monday, September 26, 2011, at Glen Oaks Hospital in Glendale Heights, Illinois. He was born December 13, 1925 in Chicago to Arthur and Esther Ringblom.
Art left high school to join the Navy during WWII. After the war he went to school to learn diesel engine repairs. He worked for Allis-Chalmers for 35 years and retired in 1986. On March 26, 1949 he married Cynthia Zimmerman. They raised their family in Wheaton. In 2002 they moved to Dixon, where he was active with the VFW Post 540.
He loved water-skiing, fishing and water sports. He and Cynthia enjoyed camping and traveling. In retirement they spent many winters in Arizona.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia, one daughter, Linda (Andy) Michel of Winfield, four grandsons, and Ryan, Tyler, Kevin and David.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Fulmer and his parents.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2011 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, where a service will follow at 7:00 P.M. Interment will be held on Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.
