Arthur Raymond Rakosnik, age 72, a resident of Wheaton, IL for many years, died Saturday, October 16, 2010 at home. He was born November 6, 1937 in Moline, IL.
Art was a member of Wheaton Masonic Lodge #269, and a longtime member of Gary United Methodist Church. He loved to golf, fish, vacation with his family, taught Sunday School, drove the church bus for Outreach Community Ministries, was a Boy Scout and a Boy Scout leader and trainer. He earned his Eagle Scout when he was only 13 years old.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn; his sons, Arthur, and David (Esmerelda); his five grandchildren, Dustin (Melissa), Chelsea, Danielle, Joshua, and Sean Rakosnik; his brother, William (Barbara); and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Rose Rakosnik.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 21, at 10:00 A.M. at Gary United Methodist Church, 224 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oakbrook Terrace, IL.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the church, or to the charity of your choice.
