Arthur Ernest Hall, Jr., age 93, a resident of Friendship Village in Schaumburg, died Monday, February 28. He was born on February 15, 1912 in Chicago to Arthur and Rosena Hall.
In 1935, Art married Beatrice Sellberg. He worked for the B&O Railroad as a secretary and graduated from the College of Advanced Traffic. He served in the Naval Reserves and then when WWII broke out he was drafted into the Navy and served for three years, mostly on Moratai Island near Japan, and returned home in 1945. After the war they moved to Arlington Heights and Art improved his position at the B&O and became Commerce Agent in Chicago. He also attended Northwestern University evening classes and graduated in 1959.
In 1952 he was Worshipful Master of the Arlington Heights Masonic Lodge. In 1962 Art became Commerce Agent of the B&O in Baltimore and they built a home in Perry Hall, MD. Art became a 32nd degree Mason in the Chesapeake Consistory and a Shriner in the Boumi Temple in Baltimore. On Nov. 30, 1971 Art retired from the B&O Rail Road. They moved to Apache Junction, AZ in 1975 and in 1995 the moved back to Illinois to Friendship Village.
He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Beatrice, three children, Judi Helfers of Antioch, Carol (Donald) Gemelli of Roselle and June (Jim) Timmermann of Grand Lake, CO, seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A committal service will be held on Saturday, March 5 at 10:00 A.M. at the chapel of Memory Gardens Cemetery, 2501 Euclid in Arlington Heights.
