Obituary

Arthur A. Churm, age 90, a resident of Wheaton, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. He was born 1933 in England to Arthur & Miriam Churm.

Arthur (Art) immigrated to the US as a teenager after Word War II. He attended Wheaton Community High School where he met his wife Barb. Art obtained his BSEE from Purdue University and a Juris Doctorate from De Paul University. Naturalized as a US citizen, Art also proudly served in the US army as a Lieutenant. From there he joined the US Atomic Energy commission (now the Department of Energy) working at Argonne National Labs as chief patent counsel until his retirement. Art was a longtime member of the US Patent Bar. An avid tennis player and jogger,  he could be found frequently on the Argonne tennis courts or running on the streets of Wheaton early in the morning. He loved dogs and had a few faithful companions throughout his life. He enjoyed walking his dogs, bicycling, fishing, and traveling.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Barbara; his children Cathy (Bruce) Churm Howard & Brian (Ernest) Churm; his grandchildren: Grant Howard, Elizabeth (Evan) Huber, and Matthew (Nikki) Howard.

He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur & Miriam as well his sister Ethel  (Irving) Woolf.

Services & burial will be private at Wheaton Cemetery.
