Obituary

Anthony Joseph Stecca

Upon graduation from Ohio University with a BS in Electrical Engineering, he worked at the Naval Research Lab in Washington, D.C. on secret projects related to RADAR countermeasures and telemetering systems. In June 1956, he moved his family to Wheaton in order to send his children to the Wheaton Christian schools. He and his family joined the Wheaton Bible Church in 1957. He continued in electronic research and became head civilian and Technical Operations Director of the Naval Ordinance Station at Forest Park, IL. Six years later he became Technical Director of Naval Ships and Engineering Center at Great Lakes, IL. Then he and his entire Engineering Center were transferred to Mechanicsburg, PA where he became Deputy Director of Logistic Engineering for the Naval Systems Sea Command of the U.S. Navy. During his career he was awarded a number of outstanding performance awards including the Navy Meritorious Civil Service Award. In 1985 he retired and moved back to the Wheaton area. In Washington, D.C. he was department head of the junior high Sunday School at Grace Baptist Church. In PA he was and elder at Christ Community Church and taught an adult Sunday School class. At Wheaton Bible Church he was usher, gatekeeper and a member of the Trimmers.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice, and three children: Kathy Wescher of York, PA, Beatrice Rumberger of Peroia, IL and David Stecca of Winfield, IL. He has six surviving grandchildren and one who is deceased. He has eleven great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 14, at 10:00 a.m. at Windsor Park, 124 Windsor Park Dr., in Carol Stream. Interment is private at Wheaton Cemtery.
