Obituary

Anthony "Tony" L. Agin, age 61, a resident of Villa Park, IL died unexpectedly on November 24, 2021.  His family and friends are deeply saddened by his sudden passing. Tony was born on April 9, 1960 in Dubuque, IA to Robert and Donna Agin. Tony grew up in Villa Park, IL and graduated in 1978 from Willowbrook High School. He was a long-time employee of Office Depot.

Tony proudly served his country as an Aviation Machinist's Mate in the U.S. Navy from 1984 to 1990.  He was a Veteran of Foreign War for his time served during the 1986 United States bombing of Libya. He was grateful for his time in the Navy and all that he experienced as he travelled the world, seeing such places as Greece, Turkey, Italy, Lebanon, Egypt and Spain.  His time in the Navy was one of the highlights of his life.

Tony loved sitcoms, especially "The Three Stooges", "All in the Family", "The Honeymooners" and "The Office". You could always tell when he was watching one by his unbridled laughter. He loved chicken wings, "all you can eat" dinners, leftovers, 80's rock, baseball caps, crossword puzzles, trivia and sports memorabilia.   Anyone who knew Tony would be quick to say that he was a sports enthusiast. You would be hard pressed to find a more avid Chicago White Sox or Blackhawks fan than Tony.  One of Tony's favorite childhood memories was his dad letting him skip school to take him to opening day at Comiskey Park to cheer on the "South Siders".

He was a devoted, caring and attentive son.  He was a beloved brother who left behind fond, fun and funny memories for his sister and brother.  He was never one to turn you down when you asked for help. He was a loyal friend who enjoyed going to baseball and hockey games, playing cards and going out to breakfast with the "fellas" – his wonderful, tight-knit group of life-long friends.

Tony's greatest privilege, accomplishment and joy was being a father.  He treasured his time with his son A.J. The happiness and pride he experienced by being A.J.'s dad was immeasurable.

Tony is survived by his former spouse, Elizabeth O'Brien Spence; his son, Anthony "A.J." Agin; his step-son, Michael O'Brien; his mother, Donna Agin; his sister, Victoria (Paul) Green and brother, Kevin (Tracy) Agin; and his nieces, Emily Agin and Sara Agin.

Tony was preceded in death by his father, Robert Agin; his paternal grandparents, Anthony and Marie Agin; and his maternal grandparents, Leo and Dorothy Winter.

Tony was a kind man with a gentle soul and generous heart who will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
