Anni Erslovas-Jurkschat, age 101, a resident of Glen Ellyn, IL, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025.  She was born May 17, 1924 in Exter, Germany.

Anni grew up on the family farm and mill. At an early age she took on responsibilities for helping with the mill.  She had fond memories of that time and spoke of her experiences there often. During the war, Anni ran the family farm on her own. It was hard work but she never complained.  She met Hugo who would become her husband and they immigrated to America in order to build a better future for their children.

Anni enjoyed gardening and would surround herself with plants.  She loved baking, her apfel strudel was a favorite as were her Christmas cookies which she would carefully pack in a festive tin and bring to friends and family.

The doors of her home were always open to all. Conversation flowed freely over cups of tea and coffee. She often prepared Sunday dinners that she lovingly shared with friends and family. Her love and caring always made her house an inviting place to visit by so many.

Anni was all encompassing in her kindness, honesty, and fairness to all she met. Throughout any hardship, her integrity was never compromised. She never waivered in her love and compassion towards family, friends, or the stranger on the street. Anni walked, always energetically, through life and shared that spirit with all around her.

She is survived by her children Ruth (Gary) Hannenberg & Ron (Joan) Jurkschat; her grandchildren: Audrey & Haley Hannenberg, and Max Jurkschat.

She was preceded in death by her husband Hugo; and her son Paul G. Jurkschat; her siblings Hilde (the late Rudolf) Kraft, Marlies (the late Siegfried) Wattenberg.

A visitation will be held at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. Wheaton, IL 60187, on Friday, December 12, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be private.
