October 6, 1924 – November 14, 2016
Anna Mascetti, age 92, a resident of Windsor Park in Carol Stream, formerly of Melrose Park and Glen Ellyn, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 14. She was born October 6, 1924 in Melrose Park to Francesco and Pierina Giancarli.
After skipping two grades, she graduated from Proviso East High School and received an award for being the youngest graduate in the school's history. She married Joseph Anthony Mascetti Sr. on November 15, 1941. They raised their family in Melrose Park where they lived until 1987. She was an active founding member of her church, Melrose Park Christian Assembly, where she taught Sunday School for 40 years. Anna worked as a School Secretary for District 89 for twenty years at Lincoln School in Maywood. After moving to Glen Ellyn, she worked at Scripture Press Ministries in Wheaton for many years and volunteered for People's Resource Center and Repeat Boutique in Wheaton.
Anna loved to cook Italian food for family and friends. She was a finalist in the Maggiano's Mother's Day Meatball contest. She enjoyed traveling extensively internationally. Her crocheted blankets were given as gifts to countless babies and brides. She was devoted to her husband, children and friends.
Her Christian faith was the most important part of her life. She was a selfless servant, a shining example of a Godly woman and a blessing to everyone she met.
She is survived by her children, Joseph Anthony (Linda) Mascetti Jr. of Bluffton, SC, formerly of Glen Ellyn, Frances Ann (Lee) Haynes of Alpharetta, GA, formerly of Glen Ellyn, Terese Mascetti (James) Kraus of Wheaton, and Perry Stephen (Sara) Mascetti of Glen Ellyn; five grandchildren, Joseph Anthony Mascetti III, Alissa Marie Andres, Dana Ann McCarthy, Andrew Nelson Mascetti and Elliot James Kraus; step-grandson, Matthew Carter; seven great-grandchildren, Joseph William Mascetti, Ellen Elizabeth Mascetti, Nicholas Joseph Andres, Christopher Jeffrey McCarthy, Nathan Dane McCarthy, Anna Marie Andres and Elise Margaret Ann McCarthy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two sisters, Antonia Caliendo and Paula Kovarik.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at Windsor Park, 124 Windsor Park Dr. (North Ave., just west of Gary Ave.) Carol Stream, IL.
