Obituary

Anna Sue Barrington, age 93, a resident of Glen Ellyn, IL, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023, at Brookdale Senior Living, Glen Ellyn, Illinois.  She was born April 2, 1929 in Paducah, Kentucky.

As the youngest of 10 siblings, she spent her childhood in Paducah, Kentucky.   She attended Augusta Tilghman High School and was an active participant in the school's theatrical productions.  Upon her marriage to John David Barrington, III in 1949 she moved to Chicago, Illinois and began her life as a homemaker and mother.   The family eventually moved to River Forest, Illinois where she became an active member of the Nineteenth Century Club of Oak Park, Illinois.  She was also a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy honoring her ancestor Solomon Jackson Mitchell who served in Company D of Newman's Battalion of the Tennessee Infantry.  Throughout her life, Sue enjoyed gardening, attending the Drury Lane Theatre productions and taking continuing education courses at College of DuPage.

Anna Sue Barrington was preceded in death by her husband John David Barrington.

She is survived by her son, Rodney (Paula) Barrington of West Chicago, Illinois and daughter Anita (Jim) Shutt of Arthur, Illinois.  She is also survived by her grandchildren Logan Shutt of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Kathryn Pfeiffer of Beulah, Michigan, and John and Paul Barrington of West Chicago, Illinois.  She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Michael and Heidi Pfeiffer of Beulah, Michigan.
