Ann Luwain
Elgar
September 5, 1914 – August 5, 2018
Ann Luwain Elgar (nee Venjohn), 103, formerly of Carol Stream, peacefully passed from this life on August 5, 2018 at St Patrick's Residence in Naperville, IL.
Ann was born September 5, 1914 in Faulkton, South Dakota, to John and Ann (Peitzmeier) Venjohn. Growing up on the farm as one of the youngest of 9 children, Ann worked hard helping her mother with the household and farm chores.
It was in Spokane Washington that Ann met the love of her life, Cecil Elgar. They married on September 20, 1943 in Rapid City, South Dakota. Theirs was a marriage of great love and respect. They built a wonderful life and family together – one that many aspire to.
After years of traveling and living throughout the country and world with the military while raising 5 children, Ann and Cecil found their perfect home in Carol Stream.
Ann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Ann loved singing, dancing and was a great cook. She enjoyed reading, sewing, her daily paper, a good card game and dominoes, which she played avidly throughout her life. Ann lived her life with great faith, strength and courage, and brought happiness to so many who had the good fortune to know her.
Ann is survived by her five children: James (Sharon) Elgar, Pat (Jeff) Vidlak, Millie (Rich) Gredlics, Bob Elgar, Joan (Ray) Geinosky; 14 grandchildren, Corissa, Callina, Amy (Lew), Cela (Ed), Nathan, Vickie (Jeff), Paul (Niki), Anna, Eddie, Katie, Lia (Wes), Dan (Anna), Angelina, Michelle; 11 great grandchildren: Jake, Elly, Max, Sam, Lily, Jeff, Brianna, Kailtlyn, Alaina, Sylvia and Niko; 2 step-grandsons: Mike and Dave (Kate), step-great-grandchild: Maddy and many nieces and nephews.
Ann went to her heavenly home in Eternity, to join those who have long awaited her coming. Including her beloved husband, Cecil; as well as her entire family who proceeded her, among them her parents, sisters, Mary, Katie, and Zita, her brothers Chris, Johnny, Arnold, Henry, Willie, and their spouses.
