Dorothy Ann Brownewell "Ann", 92, a resident of Lisle, IL died October 27, 2025, at Meadowbrook Manor in Naperville.

Ann was born October 13, 1933, in Worksop, County of Nottingham, England, the daughter of William H. and Dorothy E.B. Alexander Hessey.

She grew up in England during World War II and was 7 years old during the Battle of Britain. She met her husband Dale while he served in the U.S. Air Force in England during the Korean War. They were married in 1957 in Bloomington, IL. Mrs. Brownewell was in business with her husband where they owned and operated a bookstore, Ye Olde Book Worm, for 38 years in Lombard, Elmhurst and Bensenville, IL.

She is survived by her son David V. of Lisle, IL.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband.

A memorial visitation and service will be held on Friday October 31 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM with a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM at Hultgren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 304 N Main St, Wheaton, IL 60187.

Interment will be private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Road, Elwood, IL.
