Andrew "Andy" McLain, age 69, a resident of Carol Stream, IL, passed away at home on April 26, 2024.  Born on June 5, 1954, in Oak Park IL, he was the first child of Clement and Marjorie McLain.

Andy grew up in Lombard and Glen Ellyn, Illinois. He graduated from Glenbard West High School and enlisted in the Air Force, spending four years stationed in California, most of that time with his brother, Chris. During his time in the Air Force, he developed a love of sky diving and jumped hundreds of times. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Illinois and began working at the Chicago Northwestern Railroad where he met Holli. They got married in 1983 and he transitioned to working for the City of Wheaton Fire Department in 1987, where he would stay for the next 27 years. Andy loved riding on his motorcycle, watching birds and other wildlife in their backyard, bringing home new family pets, hiking and being in nature (especially the Rocky Mountains), and being with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Holli McLain of Carol Stream, his daughters Megan McLain of Washington DC and Anne (Paul) Scharnett of Hudson IL, his grandchildren Elisha and Otto Scharnett, his mother Marjorie McLain (nee Viola) of Glen Ellyn IL, his siblings Chris (Jan) McLain of Yuba City CA, Tom McLain of Glen Ellyn IL, Sue (John) Christensen of Wheaton IL, and Mary Beth (Frank) Steurer of Batavia IL, and multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Clement McLain, and his son, Jimmy McLain.

A memorial visitation will be held on May 5, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service with military and firefighter honors at Hultgren Funeral Home, 565 Randy road, Carol Stream, IL. 60188
