"Jud" Miner
July 6, 1928 – December 20, 2022
Amos J. (Jud) Miner, 94, of Carol Stream, IL died on Tuesday December 20th at home. Jud was born to Amos Bradley Miner and Marcella Miner in Chicago IL on July 6th 1928. He graduated from Williamsville High School in Buffalo in 1946. Jud attended Wesleyan University, graduating with a BA in Chemistry in 1950. While at Wesleyan he met Jean Bond, also from Buffalo NY, who was studying at Mt Holyoke College.
Shortly after graduation Jud was drafted into the US Army and served in the Medical Corps. He sent many creative and plaintive letters to Jean from Ft Sam Houston in Texas where he was stationed. In the end she assented to his sales pitch and they were married in the midst of a major snowstorm in Buffalo on December 22nd 1951. It was the beginning of a very long and love filled marriage.
Upon discharge from the Army, Jud joined J.T. Baker in sales. He had a long career in sales management and product development in multiple industries, many of which allowed him to draw on his chemistry background. Jud's career took them to TX, PA, IL, MA, NJ, DE, IL, and MO. In his 70's he began a new stage of life as a Commissioned Lay Pastor in the Presbyterian Church. In retirement they returned to live in Illinois.
From his youngest days to his last, Jud was a salesman. He was also an optimist, author, poet, fisherman, singer, traveler, and woodworker. He made good use of his wonderful sense of humor, artistic skills, and speaking abilities.
Jud was a loving father to five children: David, Virginia, Amos, Caroline, and Lydia.
Jud was predeceased by Jean, his parents, and his sister Susan Miner Smith. He is survived by his brother Charlie, five children and their spouses, nine grandchildren and seven great-children.
A memorial gathering will take place on January 6th at 11:30 a.m. at Windsor Park in Carol Stream. The service will be livestreamed beginning at 11:30 a.m. CST through this link: Memorial Service for Jud Miner .
