Amelia M. Aldrich, age 84, a resident of Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream, IL, and formerly of Elmhurst, IL, died Saturday, March 28, at Windsor's Johnson Healthcare Center. She was born December 6, 1924 in Chicago, IL to Adam and Katerina Malicek.
Amelia earned a degree at St. Luke's School of Nursing in Chicago, IL as a registered nurse. She was a participant in the US Army Cadet Nurse program from 1944 to 1947. After receiving her nursing degree she worked as a nurse in Seattle at the Marine Hospital, and also worked at Cedars of Lebanon in Los Angeles, CA, and also in Clearwater, FL. She met her husband, Ross, while working as an Industrial Nurse at Continental Can Co. in Chicago. She most recently worked as a nurse in Elmhurst, IL.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Ross; her son, Michael (Margaret) of Elmhurst, IL; three grandchildren, Adam, Holly and Andrew; two step-sons, David (Renee) Macarus of Elgin, IL, and David Aldrich of Miami, FL; six step-grandchildren, Kenneth, Steven, Matthew and Lori Macarus, and Elizabeth and Katherine Aldrich; and many step-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2009, at 10:00 A.M. at the chapel in Windsor Park Manor, 120 Windsor Park Dr., in Carol Stream, IL. Interment will be private at Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oakbrook Terrace, IL.
