Alvin H. Arbeiter, age 102, a longtime resident of Wyndemere in Wheaton, IL, passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2023. He was born February 25, 1921 in Chicago, IL to Henry & Helena Arbeiter.
Alvin grew up in Chicago and graduated from Steinmetz High School where he met his future wife, Virginia Adams. Alvin & Virginia were married on June 20, 1948. They celebrated 44 years of life together until Virginia's death in 1992. While in the country of Turkey on a church trip, Alvin met Eunice Newport. The two were married in October of 2000. He and Eunice enjoyed traveling the world, exploring countries such as Germany, Australia, Italy, and China. They were married for 20 years until Eunice's death in 2021. Alvin proudly served in the Army during WWII. He was stationed on an airstrip in the Philippines and served as an instrument repairman for electrical equipment. It was during this time when he gained the knowledge and skills to embark on his future career as an electrical engineer. Alvin received a letter of congratulation from President Clinton after 63 years of service with Simpson Electric Company. Outside of his career, Alvin had a passion for gardening and was an active member of the garden club at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton with his dear friend Don McKie.
He is survived by his daughter Angela (James) Arnott; and his step children Teresa (Peter) Gaunt, Tim (Katherine) Newport, & Cathy (Randy) Logan; and step-grandchildren: Molly Rose Lange (Joe, Ashton), Nora Gaunt (Adam) and Dylan Logan (Sofie); Evan Brady (Skye, Eliot, Greyson), Emma Brady, & Max Lange.
He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia & his wife Eunice.
A graveside service will be held at Wheaton Cemetery, 1209 Warrenville Road, Wheaton, IL 60189, on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.
