Alice Nelson Warner, age 92, died at Johnson Health Care Center at Windsor Manor in Carol Stream on Thursday, November 14, 2013.
She was born in Peshtigo, WI on August 18, 1921 to Ernest and Jennie (Christensen) Nelson. She married John Warner on July 31, 1941. She traveled the world with John while he was in the U.S. Army. She worked as a secretary at S.C. Johnson in Racine, WI and at Crane Packing Co., in Morton Grove, IL. In 1999, they retired to Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream, IL. There Alice volunteered in the Gift Shop, served on the Benevolent Care Committee and was the secretary of the Resident Council for 4 years.
Alice was predeceased by her parents, husband, John, and son, Gene. She is survived by daughters Pamela (Stephen) Schindel of Aurora, IL and Patricia (Robert) Hendren of Machesney Park, IL, 5 grandchildren: Karl (Amy) Schindel, Kate (Steve) Szczap, Karin Schindel, Heather Hendren, and Jeff Hendren, and 6 great-grandchildren: Drew, John and Samantha Schindel, and Courtney, Allison, and Rachel Szczap. She is also survived by her brother, Rodger (Barbara) Nelson.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 24, from 3-6 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, where a funeral service will be held on Monday, November 25 at 10:00 A.M. Interment will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
