WE CELEBRATE A LIFE OF LOVE; A LIFE WELL LIVED!
ALICE DEAN LARKIN 1941-2021

Alice Dean Larkin (Walker) passed away peacefully at her home in Westmont, IL, on May 2, 2021, lovingly surrounded by her family. Her life began in Chicago on August 21st, 1941, second born to the late Christopher Walker and the late Esther (Hurst) Walker. Alice was pre-deceased by her dear brother Chris Walker, and most recently by her faithful, furry, Maltipoo, Hector.

Despite the overwhelming challenges of paralysis and aphasia from the stroke, Alice's determination and resilience shone through to the end. Often she has been an inspiring example of perseverance to others, for whatever difficult times she encountered in life, Alice faced them head on with great strength, self-reliance and practical sensibilities. Family and friends have described her as a trusted friend, mentor and good listener - knowing just what to say in the moment. In fact her nephew Chris fondly recalled recently, " She never lied to me, she always told me the truth, I could count on that".

Alice is survived by her devoted life partner of 44 years, George Makrivasilis, cherished daughter, Lisa Glosniak who lives in Downers Grove with life partner Peter Heavern, Grandson, Jason Glosniak who lives in NJ with his wife Melissa, their son Jack and new son due 9/2021, and Grandson, Ryan Glosniak who lives in TN with his wife Carrie and their two daughters, Ella and Cleo. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Ann Walker, of (Colorado), nephew, Christopher Walker and his family in Arizona, and niece, Cassie Feierstein (Walker) living near her brother in Arizona and many cousins.

Raised in Berwyn; games, music, laughter and family dinners highlighted Alice's childhood. In the early 70's she relocated to River Forest where she raised her daughter and continued to share these joyful times with family and friends which was a great source of joy throughout her life. Alice and George spent the last 21 years together in their home in Westmont, IL.

Great grandchildren were like icing on the cake for Alice, who became "Gigi" to these wee ones. They have been little lights brightening her spirits during these last few years, which became so difficult after her stroke in 2018.

Always a dependable hard worker, Alice enjoyed a long career in the advertising departments of the Suburban Life Newspapers and Dominick's grocery chain. Though she could have retired much earlier, she instead chose to keep active by working and sharing her talents with LifeSource Blood Donation Center in Westmont until she finally retired at 72!

Once retired, Alice could spend more time gardening, attending musicals, listening to music, and taking drives to visit friends or favorite spots like Morton Arboretum and the shores of Lake Michigan. One day while visiting Kenosha, Wisconsin, Alice bolted down a path on her mobility scooter as fast as she could possibly go. She had the widest grin on her face as the wind whipped through her hair, George recalled fondly!

It is that spirit we celebrate now and forever! We love you Alice. You have been an inspiration and we will each honor your memory by striving, as you did, to be the best version of ourselves. Thank you for showing us the way.
