Alfred Peterson, age 95, a resident of Wheaton, IL, died October 14, 2018, at Wynscape Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wheaton, Illinois. He was born April 28, 1923 in Brooklyn, New York.

While stationed overseas during WWII, he met his wife Audrey at an American Red Cross Club in Manchester, England where she was a volunteer. During his time there they were married in 1945. After the war they moved to the United States for education at the University of Chicago. They relocated to New York where he began his career with the New York Telephone Company. Highlights of his last few years were his granddaughter's wedding, and the birth of his first great-grandchild.

He enjoyed building model trains and airplanes. He enjoyed playing golf with his son Charlie and coaching his little league games. He was a great joke teller and always enjoyed dancing with his wife at every opportunity.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Audrey Peterson of Wheaton; his two children Elaine (Ed) Meyer, and Charles (Ildi) Peterson; his grandchildren Elizabeth (Mike) Rogers, and Ildi Peterson; his great-grandchild Lily Audrey Rogers; his brother Donald Peterson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by siblings Robert Peterson, Martha Rohr, and Charles Peterson and by his son-in-law Alexander MacWatt.

A visitation will be held October 18, 2018 from 10:30 -11:00 a.m. at Gary United Methodist Church. A funeral service will be held October 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Gary United Methodist Church. Interment is pending for a later date.
