Alfred G. Erickson, age 82, a resident of Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream, and formerly of Wheaton, and Glen Ellyn, died Tuesday, August 29, at Johnson Healthcare Center in Carol Stream. He was born October 21, 1923 in Chicago.
Mr. Erickson was an Eagle Scout. He served in the Army during World War II as a First Lieutenant. He was trained as a meteorologist for the war. He graduated from Illinois Institute of Technology with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked as a Manufacturer's Representative as owner of A.G. Erickson and Associates. He was a former President of an Investment Club. He served as the Chairman and as a Deacon at the Glen Ellyn Evangelical Covenant Church.
Al believed the words of Hebrews 11:1, "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the confidence of things not seen", and is experiencing their meaning even now.
He is survived by his son, Scott (Lynette) of Marshfield, WI; two daughters, Lynn Erickson of Carol Stream, and Susan (Douglas Buethe) Carr of Winfield; six grandchildren, Kristin, Ryan, and Nicole Fortin, and Jennifer, Joel, & Alyssa Erickson; his brother, John (Barbara) Erickson of Oklahoma City, OK.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellie.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 7, at 2:00 P.M. at Windsor Park Manor, 124 Windsor Park Dr. in Carol Stream. Interment was private at Wheaton Cemetery.
