Alfred L. "Al" Bauler, age 90, a lifetime resident of Wheaton, IL, died Monday, July 7, 2014, at home. He was born November 14, 1923 in Wheaton, IL.
Al served as a Sergeant in the Army during World War II between 1943 and 1946. He was a Foreman for 35 years at DuPage Lumber. He was also a crossing guard within the Wheaton School district for 15 years. He loved to fish and was a devout CUBS fan, and a jokester - but there was never an ending to the joke.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Phyllis Bauler, nee Green; his sons, Larry (Val) Bauler of Wheaton, IL, and Rusty (Ellen) Bauler of West Chicago, IL; his favorite daughter, Cindy "Sid" Williams of Parkville, MO; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; his brother, Harry (Carol) Bauler of Mesa, AZ; and his sister, Elaine (Chuck) Fiene of Elmhurst, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Bauler of Wheaton, IL; his sister, Bernice Reiser of West Chicago, IL; and his brothers, William, Charles, and Fr. Bob Bauler.
A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. Services and interment are private.
