Albert J. DaValle, Sr., age 85, a resident of Wheaton, died Wednesday, January 17, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. He was born on December 25, 1921 in Oakland, CA.

Al loved Italy, his homeland. His father died when he was quite young, so his family returned to Italy where he spent his early childhood years. His family roots go back to Antrocoli, and Boveglia, Italy. After returning to the United States, he met his beloved wife, Johnnie. He then put himself through school. Upon graduation he worked as a chemical engineer for DeSoto Chemical Company.

Al is survived by his two children; Al Jr. (Pamela) DaValle of St. Charles, and Brenda (Richard) Lotesta of Wheaton, four grandchildren; Annie, Johnnie, Maddie, and Lorren, two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Payton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie; and his two sisters, Lea and Elsie.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 22, from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 23, at 10:00 A.M. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 130 N. West St. (at Wesley St.) in Wheaton with Rev. Canon Linda Potter officiating. Interment is private.
