Alan J. Peterson, 61, long time resident of Wheaton, Illinois, died September 22 at Loyola University Medical Center from complications related to nasal cancer. He was born October 5, 1945 in Edgeley, North Dakota and grew up in Steele, North Dakota. Alan graduated from North Dakota State University College of Pharmacy in 1970 and worked as a registered pharmacist with Walgreens for 34 years before achieving his lifelong dream of retirement in 2004. He enjoyed working in his basement shop and tinkering with home improvement projects. He had a passion for traveling the country with his wife, Myna, in their RV and relaxing at his lake home in Sandwich, Illinois. He was greatly loved and will be sorely missed by both family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Myna; his sons Bret (Jelena) and Chad (Kellie); and his sister Edie (Ralph) Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Verna Peterson; his sisters Elmyra and Anita; and his brother Dennis.
A memorial visitation will be held Wednesday from 3-8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 North Main Street, Wheaton, Illinois. A private funeral will be held Thursday morning.
