Alan C. Sudds, 53, passed away on December 21 in Wheaton. Alan was a 1973 graduate of Wheaton Central High School where he participated on the freshman and sophomore basketball teams and the varsity tennis team. He especially enjoyed his Art and Body Shop classes during his time in school. Alan started working full time after graduating from Wheaton Central and to further his career, he attended and graduated from the Carpenters Union apprentice program at the Washburne Trade School in Chicago.
Alan was the owner of Alan C. Sudds Carpentry and Roofing for 30 years. He was a member of The League of Extraordinary Float Builders for the Glen Ellyn Historical Society creating award winning floats for the 4th of July parades. He enjoyed vacationing in Michigan where he spent leisure time fishing with his sons and father-in-law. Alan could be seen bicycling around town with his sons and he had a green thumb when it came to his vegetable garden. He was a great friend and neighbor who always took time to share a laugh and a helping hand.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, and two sons, Mark and Erik; his brother, Andrew (Kristin Conley) Sudds of Chicago; and his brother-in-law, Richard Evers of Lake Zurich.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents Chester and Phyllis Sudds of Wheaton and his dear sister, Karen Evers.
Visitation will be on Saturday, January 10 from 3 to 9 pm at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main Street, in Wheaton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family for an educational fund that has been established for Mark and Erik, care of; Barbara Sudds, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187.
