Albert H. "Al" Vander Ark, age 80, a resident of Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream, and formerly a longtime resident of Wheaton, died Sunday, June 4, at Windsor's Johnson Healthcare Center. He was born February 17, 1926 in Bozeman, MT.
Mr. Vander Ark worked for the Van Der Molen family for many years. He was a member of the Wheaton Christian Reformed Church, and he was a volunteer at the Kline Creek Farm.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nell; his daughter, Gwen Sharer of Springfield, MO; his son, Gordon Lee Vander Ark of Springfield, IL; his grandchildren, Patrick (Courtney) Fitzgerald, and Albert James "A.J." Sharer; his brother, Rodger (Margaret) Vander Ark of Myrtle Creek, OR; his sister, Marian Vander Ark of Denver, CO; his sister-in-law, Elinor Vander Ark of Manhattan, MT; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jay Vander Ark.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 8, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of a service at 11:00 A.M. at Wheaton Christian Reformed Church, 711 E. Harrison Avenue. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery.
