Agnes Lorraine (Norr) Schroeder died peacefully at her home on October 29th, 2007, surrounded by her family. She was born April 27, 1916, at Isanti, Minnesota, the fourth of ten children.
At the age of three the family relocated to the Little Falls/Pierz, Minnesota area, and resumed farming on newly opened land. This was home for many years and where Agnes attended school. In her early childhood days she accepted the Lord Jesus as her Savior. As she advanced in age and knowledge of the Lord and the Word, she participated in various activities in the church she attended. At the age of eighteen Agnes left home for the Chicago area, where she joined her older sisters. Her first employment was at Evanston Hospital as a Nurse's Aid. In 1943 she began working at the Moody Bible Institute Bookstore. Here she was involved in further school studies and other activities, including teaching in the various Gospel Missions. While at Moody she met Leo Schroeder who became her husband on August 4th, 1945, after his graduation from the Pastor's Course at the Moody Bible Institute. A few years later they moved to Des Moines, Iowa, to pastor a small church where she also took up an active part. After leaving Des Moines they settled in the Chicago area, residing in various places such as Chicago, Forest Park, Lombard, Villa Park, Wheaton, and Carol Stream. Throughout her life she played an active part in church activities, teaching Sunday School, singing in choir, and serving as a Deaconess.
She is survived by her husband Leo; two children, Grace and Daniel (Debra); and four grandchildren: Timothy, Elizabeth, Laura and Kathryn. She is also survived by one sister Dorothy (Larson), and four brothers: Theodore, Richard, Alvie, and Donald, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Florence (Erickson) Norr, sisters Harriet and Margaret (Larson), and brothers George and Harvey.
Visitation will be at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, 630-668-0027, on Thursday, November 1st, from 3:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral will also be held at Hultgren Funeral Home on Friday, November 2nd, at 10 AM, interment to follow at Elm Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Elmhurst.
