Agnes M. "Aggie" Parenti, age 82, a longtime resident of Winfield, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. She was born on April 20, 1926, in Carbondale, PA to Peter and Anna Best.

Aggie moved to Winfield from Glen Ellyn in 1988 when she and her husband Pete fell in love with the 1-1/2 acre lot with a large pond - perfect for her passion of gardening and the outdoor life. She had a love for children and was a well-loved babysitter for neighbors as well as family. She enjoyed an energetic lifestyle and was often seen mowing her lawn well into her 80's. She stood up for traditional values and appreciated others who respected those ideas. She had a deep, abiding faith that she carried throughout her life. Any time there was a need she offered her services and was willing to pitch in. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her two sons, Jeff (Pam) Riley, of California, and Peter (Diane) Parenti Jr. of Berwyn, IL; two daughters, Jo Ann Riley of California, and Sandra (John) Fugate of Winfield; seven grandchildren, Yvette, Brandy, Jessica, Matthew, Bradley, Ashley, and Peter Richard, three great-granddaughters, Lauren, Mikaela and Keira; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Peter; her parents; one infant son, Peter; and six siblings; Josephine, Rose, Johnny, Helen, Mary, and Joseph.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, from 4 to 9 P.M. at the Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 14 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Church in Winfield. Prayers will be held at the funeral home at 10:30 A.M. Interment will be held privately at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
