3:00 - 7:00 pm (Central time)
With hearts forever changed, we announce the passing of Abigail Mary Oswald (age 7) and Caleb William Oswald (age 6) on July 3, 2026. The beloved children of Brad and Erica (Niedbala) Oswald.
Caleb was a little boy who truly marched to the beat of his own drum. His sweet, innocent spirit and bright smile, complete with his adorable dimples, could light up any room. With an endless imagination, Caleb found magic in the simplest places, spending hours exploring the backyard, getting dirty, and creating adventures all his own. Caleb had an unmistakable passion for trucks. Whether he was playing with toy trucks, watching truck videos, talking about them, or excitedly spotting every tow truck, dump truck, or semi that passed by, they never failed to fill him with wonder. Music was one of Caleb's greatest joys. He was always asking us to play his favorite songs, dancing around the house, or grabbing one of our phones to discover new music on his own. He amazed us by singing along to songs far beyond what you would expect for a child his age, filling our home with music, laughter, and smiles.
Abigail lived life with boundless energy and enthusiasm. She was always eager to know what adventure was next, whether it was a carnival, a family getaway, swimming, or simply playing a board game together. Abigail loved T-ball, but she was happiest in the backyard with a bucket of baseballs and someone willing to pitch to her. She could hit ball after ball with hand-eye coordination that amazed everyone for a child her age. She dreamed of becoming a teacher one day, already showing the kindness, patience, and leadership that would have made her an extraordinary one. Abigail's quick wit and infectious sense of humor brought laughter wherever she went. Her perfectly timed one-liners often caught everyone by surprise and had the whole family laughing.
Together, Abigail and Caleb shared a bond that was impossible to miss. Caleb adored his big sister and wanted to do everything she did, happily following her lead wherever their adventures took them. They were constant partners in crime, forever dreaming up imaginative games, turning rooms into hotels, creating secret hideouts where Mom and Dad weren't allowed, and hiding candy together as if they shared the world's biggest secret. They had a language and friendship all their own. They simply loved being together. Their laughter, teamwork, and unconditional love for one another created a bond that will forever remain an inspiration to everyone who witnessed it.
Though their lives were far too short, Abigail and Caleb filled every day with love, curiosity, laughter, and wonder. Their beautiful spirits will continue to live on through the countless memories they created and through every act of kindness done in their honor.
Abigail and Caleb are lovingly survived by their parents, Brad and Erica Oswald; their maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Gloria Niedbala; their paternal grandmother, Catherine Oswald; their uncles and aunts, Jonathon and Jaclyn Schmidt, Scott Oswald, known to them as "Uncle Tater Tot," Sheri Oswald, and Beth Schneider; and their cousins, Patrick Schneider, Erin Schneider, and Brandon Schmidt. They are preceded in death by their paternal grandfather, William Oswald and their paternal Uncle, Brian Schneider.
They have jointly passed with their adored cousin, Kathryn Schmidt.
A visitation will be held at the Danada House, 3S501 Naperville Rd, Wheaton, IL 60189, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. The photo above was taken at the Danada property, a place filled with cherished memories for the Oswald family. They spent countless hours here enjoying nature, watching the horses train, taking fall carriage rides, and making memories on family bike rides. It brings Brad and Erica great comfort to gather in this peaceful place to celebrate the lives of Abigail and Caleb.
In lieu of flowers, meals, gifts, or other expressions of sympathy, we ask that you consider making a donation to our charity fund. The Oswald family will not keep these funds. They will be donated to support children and families through a charitable organization, ensuring Caleb and Abigail's memory continues to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
