George A. Peltz, age 72, a resident of West Chicago since 1977, died suddenly Friday, February 1, at home. He was born on February 22, 1935 in Camden, New Jersey to Joseph and Catherine Peltz.
After graduating from high school in New Jersey, where he was a state record holder in the discus and shot-put, George graduated from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago with a degree in Christian Education. He also graduated from Bethel College as a Philosophy Major and graduated from Wheaton College Graduate School with a Masters Degree.
He married Donna Whaley in 1957. After being ordained in the Baptist General Conference, he served as a pastor in Bethel, MN and in Faribault, MN and taught at the Shattuck Military Academy. While attending Wheaton College Graduate School he taught at Wheaton Christian High School. In 1979 he founded DuKane Limousine Service out of West Chicago, which he ran until retiring in 1999.
George was actively involved with the Wheaton Evangelical Free Church and in recent years at Wheaton Bible Church. He enjoyed sports and was passionate about Wheaton College Football.
He is survived by his wife, Donna, two sons, Jeffrey (Nancy) of Wheaton, Timothy (Laurie) of Aurora and four grandchildren, Nancy, Jeffrey, John and Alexandra. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a granddaughter, Abigail.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 5, from 3 to 9 p.m. at the Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Wheaton Bible Church, Main and Franklin St. in Wheaton. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to Wheaton College, Football Ministry Partnership , 501 College Ave., Wheaton, IL 60187, to be used for short term missions projects of the football team.
