Obituary

Phyllis Arlene Tweeten, age 88, a Wheaton resident since 1959, passed away on Thursday, April 2, at Central DuPage Hospital. She was born on March 12, 1932 in Washington, Iowa to Glenn and LaVera Knupp.

Born on the farm, educated in rural schools, Arlene graduated from Washington HS and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics from Iowa State University. She worked as a Children's clothing buyer for Marshall Field and Co. in Chicago until her marriage to Richard V. Tweeten, also of Washington, Ia. They moved to Wheaton, Il. In 1959 to raise their family.

Arlene was an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Wheaton, and more recently, the College Church in Wheaton. She raised her family in Wheaton and then lived at Windsor Park Retirement Community in Carol Stream.  She enjoyed singing in the Mello-Aires women's chorus and leading women's Bible study through Bible Study Fellowship. She had the pleasure of traveling with her husband and enjoying her farm home in Iowa throughout her life.

She is survived by her two daughters: Tamara (Paul) Petricca of Arlington Heights and Sunya (Darin) Collier of Marietta, Georgia;  one son, David Tweeten (Jill) of Wheaton; and eight grandchildren: Elaine (Patrick) Schreck, Sam Petricca, Rick Petricca; Maggie, John and Cate Collier and Eva and Will Tweeten.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard V. Tweeten; her parents, Glenn and LaVera Knupp; and her sisters, Helen W. Knupp and Gladys Elaine Foster.

Due to the ongoing world health crisis a memorial service will be held in the future. A private burial will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery, Washington, Iowa.
