Pamela B.
Kabasenche
August 29, 1948 – January 4, 2024
Pamela B. Kabasenche, age 75, a resident of St. Charles, IL, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 4, 2024. She was born on August 29, 1948 in Manhasset, New York to Dr. Burton & Eleanor Butman.
Pam grew up on Long Island, New York in a home that honored the Lord. She enjoyed learning about the Bible both in church and many summers at Word of Life Camp. At the age of 10, Pam invited Christ into her life to be her Savior. Pam received an Associates degree in pre nursing from The King's College (Briar Cliff Manor, NY) where she met her future husband, Bill. Pam went on to nursing school where she earned her RN degree from Englewood Hospital School of Nursing (Englewood, NJ). Pam and Bill married in March 1970 and together served for 8 years as missionaries to urban teens in NYC and Cleveland, OH with HiBA (High School Born Againers). During that time, their son William Paul was born in NYC in 1972, and their daughter Deborah Joy was born in Cleveland in 1975. For the next 35 years, while Bill worked on the faculty of Lancaster Bible College (Lancaster, PA), Pam served alongside him using her gift of hospitality to welcome hundreds of students and college guests to their home. During these years, Pam loved raising their children and being a homemaker. Her love of crafts, gardening, sewing and painting also flourished. In addition, Pam worked as an elementary school nurse and as a floral designer at a local shop. Everyone who knew Pam, knew how much she loved flowers. Another love of Pam's was being a foster parent to newborns waiting to be adopted, making these babies a forever part of our family. In retirement, Pam and Bill moved to St. Charles, IL from Lancaster. She loved caring for and watching their triplet granddaughters grow up here as well as special times with her granddaughter & grandson who live in Washington. In recent years, Pam enjoyed teaching the Precepts Bible Study at Wheaton Bible Church. While teaching was a little out of her comfort zone, Pam loved creating visual word illustrations for others to take home, that emphasized key verses and themes of the lessons. Her Precepts class was a ministry and blessing to Pam, right up until she went home to be with the Lord. Pam also loved supporting Bill in his Bible study teaching (no one else will be able to decipher Bill's handwriting!). Some of their fondest memories will forever be talking about and praying about Scriptures together. Pam especially loved studying, reading, and notetaking about angels and Heaven. Throughout Pam's life, the theme of "joy" was always a key component of her faith. While her homegoing was unexpected, her family rejoices knowing she is in Heaven with her Lord and Savior.
Pamela is survived by her husband of nearly 54 years, William L. Kabasenche of St. Charles, IL; her children William P. Kabasenche of Pullman, WA & Deborah Kabasenche- Hervey of Naperville, IL; her five grandchildren: Elyria, Eliason, Abigail, Madelyn & Amelia; her siblings Barbara (Jack) VanVessem, Richard (Sally) Butman & John (Patsy) Butman and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pamela was preceded in death by her sister Linda Reece and her parents.
A memorial service will be held at Wheaton Bible Church, 27W500 North Ave., West Chicago, IL 60185, on January 30, 2024 at 10:00 am, with a light reception to follow. To view a recording of the service, please use this link:
