Rev. Joseph Taekkeun Lee, age 70, a resident of Warrenville, IL, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 18, 2020.

Joseph was born to Kee Song Lee and Bong Rae Kim on March 28, 1950 in South Kore a. Of the 3 sons and 4 daughters, he was the second son. H e dedicated himself to God and His work while he was in fifth grade . He studied Music Education at Dong -A University and taught music in Seoul, South Korea. Joseph graduated from Capital Baptist Theological Seminary in February 1989 and moved to the United States in August 1989. In May 1992, he graduated from University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Texas and majored in Religious Studies and Church Music. He completed his Masters in Divinity at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in May 1995. Regarding his ministry, Joseph was ordained as a pastor on January 4, 1991 and served a s associate pastor at Fullerton Korean Baptist Church (CA) and as senior pastor at LaCrosse Korean Baptist Church (WI). In 2001, he moved to Illinois and served as the senior pastor at the Lighthouse of Truth Baptist Church until the day of his passing.

Joseph approached life with the mentality that everything is possible. He enjoyed studying and learning . He also enjoyed teaching others. He always smiled and lived joyfully with thanksgiving and praise.

He is survived by his wife , Shannon; his son and daughter-in-law, Samuel & Emily; his grandson, Micah; and his daughter, Esther.

고 ( 故 ) 이택근 목사는 1950 년 3 월 28 일생으로 ,

부 이기송장로님 , 모 김봉례권사님의 3 남 4 녀 중 둘째 아들로 태 어났습니다 .

초등학교 5 학년 때에 이미 하나님께 헌신하였으며 ,

동아대 성악과를 졸업하시고 ,

서울에서 음악학원을 경영하였습니다 .

1989 년 2 월 수도침례신학교를 졸업하시고 ,

1989 년 8 월에 도미하였습니다 .

1992 년 5 월 텍사스 UMHB(University of Mary Hardin-Baylor) 에서 종교학과 교회음악을 전공하였습니다 .

1995 년 5 월 골든게이트침례신학대학원에서 M.Div 를 마쳤습니다 .

교회 사역으로는 ,

1991 년 1 월 4 일 목사안수를 받으시고 ,

풀러톤 한인침례교회 (CA), 라크로스 한인침례교회 (WI) 에서 사역 하였습니다 .

2001 년 시카고로 이주하여 , 진리등대한인침례교회를 담임하던 중

2020 년 5 월 18 일 오후 1 시 4 분 하나님의 부르심을 받았습니다 .

A  private funeral service was held on May 21, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home and burial was held at Wheaton Cemetery.
