Obituary

Bradley S. Mash, age 69, a resident of Itasca, IL, passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2021, at the University of Chicago Hospital in Chicago, IL after a long battle with blood cancer. He was born on June 19, 1952 in Binghamton, NY to David and Ruth Mash.

Brad earned an undergraduate degree in biology and an MBA from SUNY Binghamton University in upstate New York.  Upon graduation, he worked for Exxon, leading operational sales for the northeastern US, before landing a position with United Airlines.  This job change moved Brad (and his wife Pat) to the Chicago suburbs that they have called home for the last 38 years.  Brad found success throughout his career as an accomplished salesman with a passion for building relationships.  Some of his proudest accomplishments include bringing the SkyMall magazine onboard every United Airlines plane around the world and being recognized as salesman of the year at Oracle Corporation having brought deals valued at millions of dollars into the company.

One of Brad's best traits was his ability to bring laughter into any conversation.  It did not matter if it was his family, friends, or even complete strangers – Brad enjoyed entertaining and getting to know people.  His jokes and stories would regularly come up years later, bringing smiles to everyone's faces.

Brad had a passion for cooking.  He spent hours in the kitchen preparing meals for family and friends.  Weekend omelets, spaghetti sauce, chicken soup, and steaks grilled to perfection were some of his specialties.  Brad found happiness and took great pride when people gathered around the table to enjoy his food.

Brad was an avid golfer and world traveler.  He spent most weekends on a golf course, and he especially loved golfing with his two boys, Michael and Christopher.  Throughout his life, Brad loved to tell stories about his trips around the world.  He and Pat especially loved traveling to Hawaii and Grand Cayman.  Brad's family was most important to him.  He loved listening to music and dancing with Pat.  Having met at an early age, they had a special bond that carried them through 46 years together.  Their love and commitment to one another serve as an example to their boys.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Mash of Itasca, two sons, Michael (Meredith) Mash of Wheaton and Christopher (Jacqueline) Mash of Chicago, two grandchildren, Nolan and Cora Mash, three brothers, Howard (Ellen) Mash, his twin Martin (Jamie) Mash, and Alan (Carol) Mash, and several nieces and nephews.

His parents, David and Ruth Mash, preceded him in death.
