Obituary

Blair Hoyt Stevens, 63, loving husband and protective father, passed away on December 6, 2023 surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 40 years and high school sweetheart Pam (Andriese), and his four children, Lindsey (Jared Wyllys), Taylor (Michael Thornton), Jordan (Holly), Maddie, and a crowd of 11 adoring grandchildren who he spent countless hours spoiling.

Blair was born on August 23, 1960 at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, CA to Dennis and Diane Stevens. He graduated from San Jose State University in 1982 with a degree in business management, and served for 31 years, the majority of his career, at RTC Industries in Rolling Meadows as the Senior Vice President of Operations.

Blair took pride in hard work and the way his career accomplishments provided for those he loved, but his greatest passion by far was his family. His overflowing generosity and protective spirit made him the cornerstone of a large and close-knit family. He acknowledged that this kind of bond was rare and a gift that should be treasured and nurtured. He routinely hosted his children and their entire families regularly, finding his greatest joy in a home filled with the people he loved most.

A regular on hunting and fishing trips, Blair was a true sportsman who loved the outdoors. He was loyal to his favorite Chicago sports teams, but later in life his favorite athletes were his grandchildren. In all the things they did, Blair's children and grandchildren found their greatest support in his wisdom, practical advice, and words of encouragement. Knowing Blair inspired a desire to make him proud. This motivation is a part of his legacy.

Throughout his life, Blair drew strength from his faith. He volunteered at church, delivered Meals-on-Wheels, led and participated in men's groups speaking about fatherhood. He took time during lunch at work to tutor children online, and most impactful was how he noticed and poured into the marginalized. He embodied the selflessness described in Philippians 2:4 and Romans 12:10, and the service described in Matthew 25:35-40.

His larger-than-life presence is deeply missed by his family and friends, but they rejoice that he is pain-free and healed, knowing he will be waiting for them at heaven's gates when it's their time to come home.

A memorial service will be held at Gospelife Church, 1N100 Gary Ave, Carol Stream, IL 60188, on Thursday, December 14 at 5:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Show Hope, an organization that cares for orphans by engaging the church and reducing barriers to adoption.

Adoption was near to Blair's heart, with one daughter and four grandkids who became a part of his family through adoption.
