Victoria E. Murray

Victoria "Vicki" E. Murray, age 83, a longtime resident of Carol Stream, currently of St. Charles, passed peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, February 23, 2013. She was born February 14, 1930 in Elmhurst to Walter Stanley and Marriette Elsy.

Vicki grew up in Glen Ellyn. After high school she worked at Carson Pierre Scott on State Street in Chicago. She married George Murray on April 23, 1951. After they returned from his Air Force service, they moved back to Glen Ellyn. In 1958 they bought a home in Carol Stream where they raised their 5 children. Beginning in 1967 she worked as an Avon Representative for 35 years.

She volunteered at Central DuPage Hosptial and at St. Luke Parish, and was involved with the Carol Stream Women's Club. She enjoyed reading, music, cooking and gardening. She welcomed family and friends into her home with open arms.

She is survived by her five children, Michelle (James) Buttles of Middleton, WI, Michael George Murray of St. Charles, Kathryn (Paulius) Ivanauskas of Glen Ellyn, Melanie (Keith) Laug of Carol Stream, and Tina (Thomas) Lappa of St. Charles, 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, one sister, Barbara Elsy Denner, and her devoted friend, Lawrence Wehling. She was a second mother to many including Linda and Floyd Cockefair.

Vicki was preceded in death by her husband George in 1990 and her parents.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2013 from 1 to 6 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton, where a funeral service will follow at March 3, at 6:00 P.M. Interment will be held on Monday at St. Michael Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois leaving from the funeral home at 11:00 a.m.
