John C Bredfeldt

U.S. Veteran

John C. Bredfeldt, age 95, a resident of Wheaton, and formerly Glen Ellyn, died Monday, February 18, at DuPage Convalescent Center in Wheaton, Illinois. He was born January 1, 1918 in Chicago to John and Bertha Bredfeldt.

After serving in the US Army in WWII, he married Lois M. Schrader on August 24, 1946. They raised their three sons in Park Ridge. Following his military service he worked as a pharmacist and served as chief of the pharmacy department at Westside VA Hospital in Chicago until his retirement in 1972. In retirement he worked at Schmid Pharmacy in Glen Ellyn. He had been an active member of Glen Ellyn Bible Church and First Christian Church of Port Charlotte, Florida.

John enjoyed photography and he was an avid reader. He had an unshakable Christian faith and spent time reading the Bible everyday.

John is survived by three sons, Dr. Glenn (Judy) Bredfeldt of Wheaton, Dr. Raymond (Ruth) Bredfeldt of Forreston, IL, and Dr. Gary (Marlene) Bredfeldt of Elizabethtown, PA, ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois, and his parents.

A visitation will be held on Monday, February 25, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 26, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens in Arlington Heights, Illinois.

Memorials may be directed to the DuPage County Convalescent Center, 400 N. County Farm Rd., Wheaton, IL 60187.
