John S. Gray

John S. Gray, age 73, a resident of Glendale Heights, IL, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL. He was born March 21, 1939 in Waukon, IA.

As a young man John volunteered with Junior Achievement, helping to enrich the lives of young people. He had 40 plus years of experience in the telecommunications industry as a servant leader. He was extremely committed to his profession and his family. His passions included camping and fishing and boating. In addition to successfully navigating the corporate world, John could just as easily take apart a car engine. He enjoyed fixing things and helping others. After an encounter with John, it was rare to leave without a smile on your face. He especially loved spending time with his son and grandson and interacting with the beauty of God's world. His wife was the most important person in his life.

He is survived by his wife, Anita Gray; his son, Brian Gray of Wheaton, IL; his grandson, Jared Gray; his sisters, Patricia (Rev. Keith) Selberg, and Sandra (Roger) Pladsen; his brother, Richard (Kathy) Gray; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Gray.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. until the time of a memorial service to be held at 4:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Feed My Starving Children, 401 93rd Avenue NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55433.
